  • André the Giant

    André the Giant

    Harris is appearing today as the legendary wrestler André the Giant. He was one of my favorites. Before I was even pregnant I said a boy would be cool so I could dress him up as André . Yep, terrible but true. I knew he wouldn’t have the hair but I figured he would be a little more plump. I hope one day he looks back at this and laughs.

    The “leotard” is an old black bodysuit that I just cut. I used the arms to extend the length of his socks. The boots were old hand-me-downs that have made a few appearances in Stellaween. A few years ago we went to a Thrasher’s game and they gave these awesome mullet wigs to the first few hundred people or so. I cut it up a little (or a lot and not too well) for this pic and tried to add a little makeup for André ‘s iconic chops. And I attempted to make a championship belt out of ribbon, craft foam and gold wrapping paper. I did not make it “Harris-proof” though so it didn’t last too long.

  • The Flying Dead: ZomBEE

    The Flying Dead: ZomBEE

    Yeah, you thought the walking dead was bad. Ha! The only thing scarier than a bee is a ZOMBEE!!! The show “The Walking Dead” came out the first year we started Stellaween and people have asked since if we were going to do a zombie. Well the time has come. She asked why I put all the blood on her. I told her it’s just pizza sauce and that “zombees” love pizza! Hey, we aren’t trying to brew up any new nightmares over here. My aunt gave her that dress a couple years ago just to play in. It’s obviously more my size but it worked. We put some of my old torn black panty hose over an old dollar store set of butterfly wings and attached black pipe cleaners for antennae.

    As you can see, folks try to spray these things but it just didn’t work.

  • The Classic Witch

    The Classic Witch

    My favorite Halloween costume has always been the witch. Every year I had to be one. Some may say it’s unoriginal. I say it’s timeless. So here’s Scarlett looking like a mini Stella. It’s yet another outfit from a consignment sale. This costume is worth far more than the four bucks I spent. It’s Koala Kids and I must say that I’m very impressed with the quality. It’s big though so we may just get another year out of it.

    Wicked!

    I had to add this one. She’s casting a spell onto the flying pumpkin! Or pretending it’s a ball. Tomato, Tomato. (Writing that in no way gets the point across like saying it.)

    Stella was back assisting again. See it’s always Stellaween even when she’s behind the scenes.

    As you can see she’s a wearer of many hats=)

    Silly girl and I love her.

  • The Golfer and the Putting Green

    The Golfer and the Putting Green

    Yes poor Twiggy. No worries. In case you cannot tell, which I’m sure you can, this is a digital dye job. *I’ve come back to edit this. I feel the need to go on further about this terrible photoshop job. It looks like I used Paint. I rushed through it thinking it wouldn’t matter but it does. I should have known it would activate my OCD and it has. Yep, I’m crazy. I think you all gathered that from the get-go though. Stella thought it looked good. So at least it’s four year old approved=) *Okay, that’s all for now. Back to original text: I LOVE knickers! It makes me sad that they aren’t the style of today’s golfers. I’ve actually had my eye on Harris’s outfit for a while. When I saw it at a consignment shop, I couldn’t pass it up. Twiggy was going to be the caddy but I thought putting green with a little flag would be so much better! I couldn’t get her to hold the ball in her mouth as I had pictured in my head. I’m just impressed that Harris left his hat on! And I’d like to mention my lovely assistant, Stella, who stood behind me and helped generate that incredible smile on his face=)

    Also, I didn’t get this in to throwback but how about a Flashback Friday? It’s a thing. It’s just not as popular as the #tbt thing. It’s the twins from last year dressed as the Georgia Peach and the Peach Picker. The photo we put up last year was of Stella and Scarlett. This was pretty cute too though.

    Give Me an S!

    Cheering for the pink team! She had so much fun doing this. She didn’t want to stop showing me her different poses.I had to finally cut her off to get ready for bed. Good to know she isn’t tired of this yet.

    This costume was given to us by a super awesome client a couple years ago. She scored big time at an after holiday Target clearance sale and donated a few to the Stellaween box. Thank you Jill=)

  • King Kong, Ann and the Empire Stella Building

    King Kong, Ann and the Empire Stella Building

    King Kong

    It finally felt a little more like fall today so I suppose it’s time for some Stellaween. I hate that we haven’t been doing the daily pics but these twins have been a real game changer. I attempted to do this photo one day while Rob was at work. I guess I was feeling a little confident. Oh boy. It all went horribly wrong. Harris kept running away crying. Scarlett took off her diaper and decided to pee all over the place. Poor Stella was in that box and could barely move. She’s such a pro though=) I re-shot them the following weekend when I had an extra hand. That black and white image, however is from the first attempt. As Stella says “You get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit.”

    I always like to talk a little about the costumes and the thriftiness. I saw a gorilla suit posted on a Facebook yard sale page for only $2. Naturally I had to get it. I didn’t realize the head piece was missing. I put an old hat of my mom’s on him to compensate but he didn’t really care for anything on his head. Surprise Surprise. My first thought was King Kong and we went with it.  Scarlett is Ann Darrow. White dress, done. And Miss Stella is the Empire State Building. A couple of diaper boxes, backdrop paper and electrical tape was all we needed.

    So Happy Stellaween to everyone!  Grab your candy corn and enjoy=)

  • Day 31 2012 {Glinda the Good Witch}

    Day 31 2012 {Glinda the Good Witch}

    Are you a good witch or a bad witch?  That is the question you know!

    Well, the big day has finally arrived!  I hope everyone has enjoyed this year of Stellaween. We certainly have, but I’m looking forward to getting our house back in order and not covered in costumes.

    Our last character is one we all know well. She’s Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The dress is one of those little princess play dresses we picked up at a consignment shop. I ripped the Sleeping Beauty cameo off and added every gemstone, piece of broken jewelry, and foam star we had. I also added a big Christmas tree ornament.  It would have been better to have had the butterfly, but maybe next time. The dollar store carries these little so-called “skirts”, which I decided would be better to add as the giant flutter sleeves. To make the skirt stand out wider, she slipped on the Ghostbusters tutu. The crown was made of sparkly craft foam, glitter glue, Christmas stars, gemstones and a necklace. But the most exciting part of the dress is that it twinkles! I attached some twinkly LED lights. They carry a small battery pack of them at Hobby Lobby. Not that great for pictures, but very fun for Stella to wear.

    Here’s a low-light version so you can see the lights.

    I decided to add a quick video to view the twinkles in all their glory. I’m clueless as to what I’m doing with video so I had to upload via youtube and I don’t know how to remove the sound so unfortunately you’ll get to hear my voice.

    I also want share these two photos that Rob took of Stella while I was setting up one day. I think they are so sweet.

    She wanted this little bear to be in the picture too.

    And while we’re at it, I’ll go ahead and post a few from our pumpkin lot trip. Stella was sick the day her class went to the real pumpkin patch, so yesterday we made a quick trip to a nearby church to buy one.
    She loved the mini pumpkins the most.

    You may thinking “That’s so cute, she’s trying to lift that big pumpkin.” But no, I think she was holding on for dear life due to the insane winds that we’re experiencing. Remember this is Hurricane Sandy time.

    Alright folks that’s it for this year. We wish you a Happy Halloween from our family to yours!

  • Day 30 2012 {Vintage Clown}

    Day 30 2012 {Vintage Clown}

    This is Stella’s actual Trick-or-Treating Halloween costume. I custom ordered it from a little shop on Etsy. Check them out at FWCreations4All

    I just think it’s so classic and sweet. Two of my childhood friends had costumes very similar to this one year. I always look back at those photos and think they looked so cute. Before Stella starts demanding to be a princess, I decided I would dress her in this. I’m in love with the collar! And obviously I’m still perfecting my balloon animal skills=)

  • Day 28 2012 {Monster Under the Bed}

    Day 28 2012 {Monster Under the Bed}

    Only three more days left! Today we took one more break from the costuming and just worked around Stella’s Halloween gown.  It says “I’M NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK.”  I think the actress inside came out more than ever here. I told her to act scared and there you have it. Or maybe she really was scared of that monster hand.  Doubtful.

    Please remember to visit my photography page on facebook at September Morn Photography. If you’d be so kind, I’d appreciate your support by “liking” the page. Thanks!

  • Day 28 2012 {The Circus Girl}

    Day 28 2012 {The Circus Girl}

    This one is special to me because Stella is wearing one of my old dance costumes. When we got it out, it still had the same smell I remember all of our costumes having when we first got them back in dance class. Oh the nostalgia. We added some old feathers to her head and dollar store clip-on earrings. I tried to use real cotton candy, but all I could find was the mass packaged stuff at the store, which just didn’t look right. At the last second I remembered I had a roll of pink soft tulle. It was perfect! After the photos I decided to put Twiggy in the spotlight for a second. You’ve got to have a circus poodle!
